Enrichment Update

Creekside students visited the Squaw Adventure Center on Friday for an enrichment field trip, and had a blast!  Jesse and Tracy Desens offered a great day and a full day of fun- THANK YOU!  We had over 100 kids in attendance and a great group of parent volunteers- many thank yous!  Students worked on orienteering skills, team building, conquering fears, problem solving and just had fun.

This Friday classes will resume at Rideout, with a couple of tweaks.  Chess starts this week for 3rd-6th.  Lego Robotics Club also starts this week.  4th-6th graders that would like to join the club should come at8:15 if possible, and 3rd graders who would like to join should come at 8:30.  If parents would like more info, there is a meeting at school this Tuesday at 2:45 with Heather Maloy, head coach.  You can also just let Alicia Doherty know if your student is joining: ahen38@hotmail.com.  Also, we have hired Ms. Tara to be our 5th grade aide on Fridays, and we are hoping she will help things move a little more smoothly.  She may venture into other classes as needed.  As always, we need parent volunteers on Friday- it is imperative to making classes, break and lunch time run successfully.  Enrichment Fridays are partly run by parent volunteers and it is a PTO program- please think about coming this Friday to help!  You can volunteer online for 1/2 day or full day on the pto website: creeksidepto.org.

There are several spots left for the Sierra Nevada Journeys overnight field trip to Grizzly Creek Ranch in Portola, Oct 2-3.  Please check out the PTO website or sierranevadajourneys.org for more info.  Forms and payment need to be turned in ASAP to save your spot.  It is $70 per student and $35 per chaperone (normally $85 each), which covers meals, lodging and classes.  Classes will include pond ecology, forest ecology/hike, nature art (younger kids), cooperative games (younger kids), archery (mid-older kids) and ropes course elements and campfire for all!  11 check in Friday, 5 check out Saturday.  Please email Alicia with any questions- ahen38@hotmail.com.  Don’t wait!  They need our numbers early this week in order to reserve enough staff for our group.
