Spring Enrichment Update

Enrichment classes are in full swing for the rest of the school year.  The students participated in science, biking, art, Odyssey of the Mind, improv, and outdoor ed. Kids painted bowls for Souperbowl- if your child missed it and would like to paint one, see the Chat for future dates at Creekside/SVP.  We will not have makeup painting this Friday.  4th graders will have the opportunity Monday, April 20 at 1:15 in class.  Please make sure to pay $10 per bowl, as well as $175 for the spring session, if you haven’t already.  You may make checks out to Creekside PTO and pay at school or at
This Friday Ms. Heather will be teaching Lego Engineering for 3rd and 4th grades.  Please contact Kim Kerrigan or sign up on the google doc to volunteer– it is immensely helpful and really fun!

The Book Fairy will be visiting Creekside on Friday, May 1.  She will teach language arts classes with Kindergarten-2nd and have a book fair from 2-3.  Catalogs for Barefoot Books and order forms go home in folders this week.  Please bring a completed order form or shop at enrichment on May 1.  20% of sales go to the Creekside PT0, and the books are amazing!

Here are some photos of the first day of spring enrichment classes.

1st Grade – Coloma Gold Rush Live

Hi 1st grade parents,

Just a reminder that this Friday, 10/10, there are no enrichment classes at Rideout– we are on the road!  The class is going to Coloma for Gold Rush Live! at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park for a special living history day.  It will be a little like a festival or like a renaissance fair, with activities and demonstrations to do, see and participate in.  We will not have our own docent, but the whole day is for schools and will be geared towards students.  Each driver will be in charge of a few kids, making sure they stick together and have appropriate behavior.  There will be a meeting time and place for lunch, where all kids will get together for eating and playtime.  Again, it is all school groups this day and the event isn’t open to the public.
Please let me know ASAP if your child is planning to attend, if you are able to drive and how many, and if you are wanting to start your carpool in Tahoe City or Truckee.  I will help you catch your ride or your riders, if you let me know.
Tahoe City: plan on leaving TC Savemart by 8:30
Truckee: plan on leaving Truckee Savemart by 8:45
Drivers so far:
Alissa 6
Jackie 3
Lisa 3
Koijaine 1 (not coming back after, but could take 1 down)
Rickenbach 1 (not coming back after, but could take 1 down)
Bethany will hop in with someone if possible ?!
I will need to know who is planning on coming or not coming so we can plan rides accordingly.  Please RSVP either way!  This is not a mandatory trip.
If you are driving- make sure to write Creekside Charter on a piece of paper and put in your windshield.  This will let parking attendants know that you are with a school group and you will get free parking.
Meet at the entrance of the event- see below for directions. You should plan on 1 1/2 hrs from Truckee and more like 1 4/5 hours from Tahoe City.  You do not need to go to Rideout at all- just plan on the Savemart pick up/drop off.  Kids should be back by 2:45.  If you need to drop siblings off early or have them stay late to accommodate this schedule, just let me know and we will work it out.

Why:  It is an awesome opportunity for your children to get the hands-on experience that they love and learn so much from.  It works out to less than $25 per day of instruction- a hard deal to beat!  We have fantastic teachers and a wonderful space with a playground, field, gym and great trails to explore.
Help:  We ask for parent volunteers each week- a fun and meaningful way to give volunteer hours to the school.  Please sign up on the website or respond to this email ( for this first week.  Parents help the day to run smoothly and are vital to the success of this program that is fueled by the PTO (that’s you).
Thanks everyone and see you on Friday!  Questions or concerns- (530) 308-0234.
