1st Grade – Coloma Gold Rush Live

Hi 1st grade parents,

Just a reminder that this Friday, 10/10, there are no enrichment classes at Rideout– we are on the road!  The class is going to Coloma for Gold Rush Live! at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park for a special living history day.  It will be a little like a festival or like a renaissance fair, with activities and demonstrations to do, see and participate in.  We will not have our own docent, but the whole day is for schools and will be geared towards students.  Each driver will be in charge of a few kids, making sure they stick together and have appropriate behavior.  There will be a meeting time and place for lunch, where all kids will get together for eating and playtime.  Again, it is all school groups this day and the event isn’t open to the public.
Please let me know ASAP if your child is planning to attend, if you are able to drive and how many, and if you are wanting to start your carpool in Tahoe City or Truckee.  I will help you catch your ride or your riders, if you let me know.
Tahoe City: plan on leaving TC Savemart by 8:30
Truckee: plan on leaving Truckee Savemart by 8:45
Drivers so far:
Alissa 6
Jackie 3
Lisa 3
Koijaine 1 (not coming back after, but could take 1 down)
Rickenbach 1 (not coming back after, but could take 1 down)
Willers
Doherty?
Bethany will hop in with someone if possible ?!
I will need to know who is planning on coming or not coming so we can plan rides accordingly.  Please RSVP either way!  This is not a mandatory trip.

If you are driving- make sure to write Creekside Charter on a piece of paper and put in your windshield.  This will let parking attendants know that you are with a school group and you will get free parking.
Meet at the entrance of the event- see below for directions. You should plan on 1 1/2 hrs from Truckee and more like 1 4/5 hours from Tahoe City.  You do not need to go to Rideout at all- just plan on the Savemart pick up/drop off.  Kids should be back by 2:45.  If you need to drop siblings off early or have them stay late to accommodate this schedule, just let me know and we will work it out.

Why:  It is an awesome opportunity for your children to get the hands-on experience that they love and learn so much from.  It works out to less than $25 per day of instruction- a hard deal to beat!  We have fantastic teachers and a wonderful space with a playground, field, gym and great trails to explore.
Help:  We ask for parent volunteers each week- a fun and meaningful way to give volunteer hours to the school.  Please sign up on the website or respond to this email (ahen38@hotmail.com) for this first week.  Parents help the day to run smoothly and are vital to the success of this program that is fueled by the PTO (that’s you).
Thanks everyone and see you on Friday!  Questions or concerns- (530) 308-0234.

2014/15 Enrichment

Friday Enrichment

Welcome back!  We are looking forward to another great school year.  This year, we are making some changes around our great enrichment program.  These changes cover both the structure of enrichment Friday and the payment.  Starting this year, Enrichment will now be a required fee-based program divided into 3 sessions; Fall, Winter, and Spring.  This allows more flexibility for parents to choose the season they wish their students to attend.  This also helps streamline our process of scheduling teachers, budgeting for the year and planning classes based on number of students attending.

Fee Structure

If you plan on attending ANY of the Friday sessions, you must pay for entire semester.  There is no per day price

Fall enrichment Fridays:  September 12– December 12, $275 for entire session

Winter ski Fridays : January 9 – March 27 $150 for entire session

Spring enrichment Fridays:  April 10 – June 5 $150 for entire session.

If you pay for all 3 sessions by September 5, you will receive a 5% discount.

Class Structure

Fall enrichment Fridays classes will be different from previous years.  Each grade will have a dedicated teacher that they stay with all day.  The classes will run as thematic bases units with an emphasis on experiential learning.  Then children will be exposed to all levels and stages of learning the theme, including nature walks, field trips, journaling, etc.

Winter ski enrichment will not change.  The program is run by our fearless leader Kirsten Clark-Rickenbach.  Look for more information at the fall feast.

Spring enrichment Friday structure will be announced in December.

Thank you for the support!
